A trial lesson can make an incredible and exciting gift for loved ones and friends or just to treat yourself.
Helicopters are probably the most exciting and rewarding machine to master. Our experienced instructors will give you a full briefing before you fly, explaining how all the controls work and taking you through the basics of operating a helicopter. When you’re ready you’ll be taken to the aircraft and your instructor will take you out over the beautiful Surrey countryside to try flying for yourself.
If you have ever wanted to try flying a helicopter there are a number of different options available to suit your budget from a 20 minute flight in our Robinson R22’s to a day flying one of our 4 seat R44 helicopters!
Most important of all, unlike many flight experience providers the published flight time is the actual time in the air and does not include the time in the classroom. Vouchers are valid for 9 months, can be transferred to another person but are not refundable. Our flights operate from Redhill Aerodrome 7 days a week subject to availability. Please see our ‘Full Terms and Conditions‘.
R22 – Maximum weight 17St (108Kg), please advise us if over 15St (95Kg).
R44 – If you choose one of our R44 trial lessons you can take up to two friends with you Free of Charge (weight permitting). R44 Maximum passenger weight 21St, please advise us if over 15St (95Kg).
G2 – There is no maximum seat weight for this helicopter as long as both you and the instructor fit comfortably in the cabin and are within the total weight and balance limitations.
The PPL(H) will allow you to pilot your own helicopter or hire one of our fleet. There are many requirements associated with getting a PPL(H) but here at EBG Helicopters we will make it as enjoyable for you as we possibly can.
For your licence you will be required to complete a minimum of 45 hours of flight training. If at the end of the 45 hours you feel you are not ready to take the test, you will be able to carry on with your training until you are ready. Of the 45 hours, 10 must be flown solo. At no stage would you be asked to do anything for which you were not qualified or confident to carry out. Before you go solo you will be required to pass a Civil Aviation Authority Class 2 medical. This can be taken locally at Gatwick, if this is not convenient we can supply a list of authorised examiners.
There are nine written examinations with multiple choice answers. You will find these easy to pass with help from our flying instructors. You will be tested on the following subjects:
When you and your instructor both feel that you are ready you will be entered for your Skills Test by a CAA Qualified Examiner.
Our flights are sold on a voucher basis. Vouchers are valid for 9 months from date of purchase, can be transferred to another person/date but are not refundable. Our flights operate from Redhill Aerodrome 7 days a week subject to availability. Please see our ‘Full Terms and Conditions‘.
